The Animation is Complete!!

Finally got the animation finished about an hour before class was finished on the final day. The week was rough, I'd say we spent at least 50 hours working in Flash this week.
Once again, our first time doing an animation like this, definitely learned a lot. Flash has quite a few annoying limitations, plus it crashes after you do something minimal like scrolling, or after you do something very hard and important..

Music and Sound effects were fun to do, we made and recorded our own sounds, plus looked up some free samples.

Music credits:
Glomag - "The Ecstasy of Gold"
Animal Style - "Cyboshellfish"
Linde - "Galileon"

It was a great experience, very happy with the result and we are planning to do more in the future.

Character Design - 8 Other Characters..

So here are 8 other characters that have been completed for some time.

•8 Bit Mario - In our animation when Mario get the Super Mushroom he transforms into a lrage 8 Bit pixel version of himself.

•Fire Mario - When Mario gets the Fire Flower his suit changes to these colours.

•Princess Peach - Once again captured, our design has her looking more like a lanky zombie.

•Bowser - Our design has him more rounded, hunched over and with a mustache.

•Koopta Troopa - Bipedal with dead looking eyes, his shell is more hunched than a standard Koopa.

•Koopa Paratroopa - Very similar to the koopa, the slender wings allow him to fly.

•Bomb Bro. - An original character based off of the Hammer, Fire and Boomerang Bros. Our character will throw the Bomb Omb character that ws posted earlier.

•Bullet Bill - The front comes to a point, has a huge crooked grin. There are drip patterns all over it, along with the cannon from which it is fired.

Plus, here is our Koopa in action.

Character Designs - Sonic the Hedgehog, Goomba, Bomb

We found it a little easier this time, with Mario being designed and all, by keeping a consistent style. Something a little darker then Mario, as you can tell. The characters are Sonic the Hedgehog, bottom left corner, looking a little more crazy then usual, Goomba, top left corner, and Bomb on the right. These aren't completely finished but we are both happy with the direction the project is taking. We have found a nice middle ground of keeping the game familiar, but making it uniquely ours as well.

CharacterOutlines

There will be animations for these characters to come.

Character Design - Mario

Our main character went through at least 5 redesigns before we settled on something that would keep our art style consistent. The first 4 in this image were too simple. We wanted something more detailed and dark.
We kept one of the heads from a previous design and changed up the body.
Made the character more lanky and rugged.
The character was redrawn in Illustrator and brought into Flash to get a walk cycle down. Here are results.

Two Sprites One Pipe

This blog will follow Paul Scott and Thomas Trindade as they travel through space and time in attempt to make a Flash animation based on the Super Mario universe with their own crazy style.

We just started learning Flash in our final semester of the Graphic Design - Creative program at Mohawk College. So far we have only learned how to make simple web ads. We are going to try something we haven't done before in Flash, a character based animation, titled "Two Sprites One Pipe".
